The things that make Vaucluse one of Sydney’s best suburbs to live in also make it a place where staying on top of pest management matters more than most people realise.
Termites are the biggest concern. Vaucluse has a significant amount of older building stock with timber subfloors and aged framing, and the surrounding bushland gives subterranean colonies exactly what they need to establish and spread. These species can travel well over 50 metres underground from their nest, which means a colony that started in a neighbouring property or garden bed can already be working through your home’s structural timber before you see any sign of it at ground level.
Rodents are a consistent problem in Vaucluse that borders bushland reserves. Vaucluse sits right up against Sydney Harbour National Park, and as the bush population moves between natural terrain and residential streets, older homes with sub-floor gaps or ageing brickwork give them straightforward access. We treat a lot of rodent issues in this suburb that owners had no idea about until we went under the floor.
Cockroaches and ants become active through the warmer months across the eastern suburbs. Vaucluse properties with established gardens, compost areas, or stone retaining walls tend to see more activity than newer builds with cleaner perimeters.
Spiders, including funnel-webs and redbacks, are found regularly in Vaucluse, particularly in garden beds, rockeries, and sub-floor voids close to bushland boundaries.
Our approach here is not a one-size-fits-all general treatment. We inspect your property first, look at what the actual risk profile is for your specific block and building type, and treat based on what we find. If you have not had a proper inspection in the last 12 months, Vaucluse’s environment means it is worth getting one done.
If you do see a pest after the treatment, do not panic; it is normal to see an increase in pests as the treatment brings them out. If they persist after 2 weeks, call us again for a free treatment!
